If you’ve never been to Europe, this is the trip for you. We’ll introduce you to two of the most fascinating cities in the World. You’ll see all the famous sites you’ve read about. Plus, you’ll make some lifelong friends to boot!
We’ll begin our exploration of two of the Grand Capitals of Europe in Royal London. There we’ll visit Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle where the queen is buried, Westminster Abbey, and so much more. We’ll also take a tour of London’s famous markets and pubs. Stonehenge and Stratford-on-Avon is set for another day. In the evenings we’ll have a dinner cruise on the Thames, eat in the home of a local, and feast in a four star French restaurant.
After four packed days in London, we’re off on the high-speed bullet train through the Chunnel to Paris, all in less than 5 hours! We’ll be going first class as we enjoy both the views of Southern England and Northern France. Once we check into our hotel in the Latin Quarter, we’ll head for a tour of unforgettable Montmartre, the famous artists’ colony of the 19th and 20th centuries. During our stay we’ll go to the top of the Eiffel Tower and spend time exploring the Louvre, the largest and most important museum in the world.
London: Tower Hotel is directly on the Thames River and across the street from the infamous Tower of London. Tower Bridge can be seen from our windows.
Paris: Hotel Muguet, deep in the Latin Quarter, a half block from the Seine River, and close to Notre Dame.
Day 1, Friday: We board a plane for our overnight flight to London!
Day 2, Saturday: We arrive in London and transfer to the Tower Hotel. After unpacking we have the afternoon free to explore. If you wish, you can visit the phenomenal British Museum on your own. In the evening we meet for a welcome dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Day 3, Sunday: In the morning we meet our guide for a walking tour of the pubs and markets of central London. In the afternoon we journey to the magnificent Windsor Castle, the home of Queen Elisabeth II. In the evening we take a dinner cruise on the Thames River as we enjoy a traditional meal.
Day 4, Monday: Today is the day for our grand tour of London sites. Our guide will show us Westminster Abbey, Parliament, Big Ben, and St Patrick’s Cathedral. The highlight will be watching the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.
Day 5, Tuesday: After an early breakfast we journey to Stonehenge on the Salisbury Plain. We’ll also visit Stratford-upon-Avon, childhood home of Shakespeare, and take a drive through the Cotswolds, with its quaint medieval cottages.
Day 6, Wednesday: We make an early exit to St Pancras Station (we’ll need to hunt for platform 3 ¾) as we take a high-speed train through the Chunnel under the North Sea, arriving in Paris less than 5 hours later. We’ll transfer to our hotels and settle in. In the afternoon, we’ll take a guided tour of Montmartre, home to artists such as Dali, Monet, Manet, and many others. We’ll tour the Sacre Coeur before having dinner and a show at the famous Moulin Rouge.
Day 7, Thursday: Today we’ll take a guided tour of all that is Paris, including Notre Dame, the Arch de Triomphe, Champs Elysée, and much more. At 6 we’ll travel to the top of the Eiffel Tower for magnificent views in every direction. We’ll then walk across the Seine River to take in the sunset from the Trocadero.
Day 8, Friday: On Friday we take an all-day tour of the Normandy Beaches where so many American lives were lost on D-day. We’ll also visit the American and German cemeteries. On the way back we’ll have lunch in a quaint medieval village.
Day 9, Saturday: This morning we take a guided tour of the incredible Louvre Museum. We’ll see the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, among thousands of other pieces from antiquity. In the afternoon we’ll take a ride on the Seine River, and in the evening we’ll have dinner in the home of a local as we say farewell to two incredible cities.
